Steiff have welcomed a new interpretation of this much-loved character into their collection.
On October 13th, 1958, Michael Bond introduced the world to Paddington, through his first publication, of what would become many, 'A Bear called Paddington', with illustrations by Peggy Fortnum. Since then, more books, television and much-acclaimed films have reignited the twinkle in Paddington's eye, propelling him forward into movie stardom and a new generation of fans.
Paddington TM is a 35 cm / 13" fully jointed bear. He has been sewn from a sumptuously dense mocha hued alpaca, with a contrasting cream muzzle and wool felt paws. He has enigmatic, two tone brown, glass eyes with a kissable smart stitched nose and mouth, both of which have been daintily enhanced with colour shading. As always, he wears his red wool felt bush hat, that was once his uncle Pastuzo's, as a constant reminder of his heritage, Peru and dear Aunt Lucy, along with his blue duffle coat, with pockets, wooden toggles and a beige tartan lined hood (gifted to him from The Browns). He carries the suitcase his Aunt Lucy packed to begin his journey. Brown with corner protectors, his initials, and wanted on voyage label are all incorporated, whilst his all-important label is never far and resides, firmly around his neck "Please look after this Bear. Thank You".
